She played Gladys Pugh in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi! (1980–1988). For this, she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award for “Best Light Entertainment Performance.” Later, she played Daffyd Thomas’ mother in the second season of Little Britain.
She performed in several theatre productions, including Under Milk Wood, Steel Magnolias, and numerous pantomimes. Big Top, the BBC1 comedy featuring Tony Robinson, John Thomson, and Amanda Holden, marked Madoc’s comeback in 2009.
Madoc researched her family history for the 2010 BBC Wales programme Coming Home and found connections to David Lloyd George.
