After scoring, Neves sends a message to Rashford.

While he was celebrating his goal against Liverpool, Neves appeared to be sending a message to Marcus Rashford. The United star, Rashford has been gesturing to the side of his head to indicate success in recent weeks.

Many football players including Joshua Kimmich have been doing the celebration in the same way before it became the trend. However, the celebration caught the attention as Rashford has continuously been scoring and doing it. Moreover, Rashford posted stories of prominent footballers celebrating the same way claiming that was his own celebration.

Now, it seems like Neves has started claiming the celebration as his own. He has actually been performing the celebration for most of his career. There are instances of him doing so as early as 2018 to commemorate his accomplishments. So, Neves might have felt the need to clarify matters as many people had recently claimed that Rashford was the recipient of the celebration. In a fan-released video, Neves can be seen pointing to himself before pointing to his celebration as if to declare, “It’s mine.”

After scoring, Rashford stands still and points to his temple, sometimes with his eyes closed and the celebration suggests that he is hinting at his recent mental health struggles and how focusing on that has become a priority.

How has Ruben Neves performed thus far?

Neves has been one of the Wolves’ top players despite the team’s struggles for much of the season. The midfielder from Portugal is having one of his most successful seasons at the goal. With five goals in the Premier League, he has already surpassed his previous high mark in England’s top division.

Neves might not play for the Wolves for very long. The contract of the 25-year-old expires in 2024, and a transfer to one of the major clubs in Europe may be in the works as Wolves will never like him to lose for free.
