Romeo Doubs Latest Ankle Injury Update, News, Status And Return Date

Despite starting off the game looking healthier in the receiver position, the team suffered an early blow. 22-year-old Romeo Doubs underwent an ankle injury following a hard tackle.

A Hard Tackle

Doubs got injured moments after catching Aaron Rodgers’ first 18-yard throw of the game. Lions safety Kerby Joseph came right at Doubs, with a hard tackle on his right leg, which left him limping.

Although Doubs managed to get to the sideline himself after the play, he got carted off from the medical tent. Following the injury, the Packers initially stated his return as questionable, but later ruled out following the severity.

After Doubs left, Green Bay managed to move the ball, but were unable to score in the first half. Aaron Rodgers only managed to throw two red-zone interceptions.

With Doubs ruled out with injury, the Packers will once again have to look deeper into their receiver depth. Moreover, their current four-game losing streak is not helping them out in any way.

Packers Wide Receiver Options

Given below are the possible receiver position options following Doubs’ injury:

  1. Allen Lazard
  2. Sammy Watkins
  3. Christian Watson
  4. Samori Toure
  5. Amari Rodgers

The above list is based on each players’ rankings so far.

Prior to his injury, Doubs was the Packers’ No. 2 receiver alongside Lazar. Now that Doubs is injured, veteran Watkins and the second-round pick Watson will probably have to step up. Before the recent game on Sunday, the duo had a combined total of 17 catches and 214 yards this season.

Behind them is Samori Toure, another rookie. Toure recently managed a touchdown catch for the Packers late in the game against the Bills where they lost. Last on the list is Rodgers, who is a slot receiver who has recently received more game time following Randall Cobb’s injury.

Whatever the case may be the Packers will definitely have a hard time replacing Doubs. Doubs currently ranks second on the team with his 30 catches, 296 receiving yards, and 3 touchdown catches.
