One of the dancers at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show waved the Sudanese flag and Palestinian flag at the end, sparking all kinds of reactions, find out more below.

Following the incident, the NFL issued a statement declaring that “no one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.”

According to reports, security personal detained the dancer after he waved the two flags together with the words “Sudan” and “Gaza” written on them.

Dancer carries out protest by waving Palestinian and Sudanese flags

The shocking incident took place during Kendrick’s last song, “TV Off.”. The dancer, who was part of Kendrick’s performance, held the flags up while standing on the back of a black Grand National car that featured throughout the halftime performance.

The dancer then jumped off the stage before jogging around the field for about 20 seconds and eventually getting tackled and detained. Once the lights came back on, security personnel walked him off the field. The incident took place just one day after Hamas freed three more Israeli hostages and while a bloody civil war rages on in Sudan.

Age 41 New Orleans resident Zul-Qarnain Nantambu who is a Muslim by religion, who raised a combined Palestinian and Sudanese flag during the Super Bowl half-time show explained that he wanted to demonstrate to his Creator that he didn’t have weak faith by speaking out against the wrongs faced by Muslims. He said that he had been afraid of being shot down by Secret Service bullets and also shared that he saw Kendrick Lamar’s show as a sign to “incorporate” the flag.

During the performance, Zül-Qarnaįn Nantambu, 41, pulled out the flag with the words “Sudan” and “Gaza” written on it and revealed that was accepted about a month ago to be a member of the field cast after someone shared an application with him.

Nantambu said his protest was inspired by his Islamic faith, which he said represents truth, justice and peace, and his love for the Palestinian and Sudanese people who are suffering and also urged Donald Trump to do the right thing.

Nantambu said that toward the end of the performance, he climbed onto the Buick GNX and pulled out the flag with him eventually being taken in for questioning before being released without any charges being pressed. Roc Nation revealed that it had nothing to do with the flag with Zul having acted of his own accord.

NFL issues a statement

The NFL issued a statement of the incident, stating that they have identified the person and confirmed that he was part of the 400-member field cast. They further added:

We commend security for quickly detaining the individual who displayed the flag. The individual hid the item on his possession and unveiled it late in the show. No one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.”

The league further stated that they have banned the person for life from all NFL stadiums and future events.

Official police statement

The New Orleans Police Department, who are in charge of the case, also issued a statement on Monday. In the official statement, the police department stated that they did not carry out any arrests or summons in the case. The department further stated:

As such, the individual will not be identified. The NOPD continues to work with NFL and the halftime production team to ascertain any affiliation the individual may have had with the halftime show.”

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) praises Super Bowl halftime show protestor

Meanwhile, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) went on to praise the protester. The organization praised the protestor for “courageously and peacefully” raising awareness on both issues. CAIR stated through a post on X, that the peaceful protest:

should serve as a reminder that many Americans recognize the humanity of those suffering abroad as a result of American foreign policy.”

CAIR further wrote:

This performer risked his career to peacefully raise awareness about human suffering without even causing any significant disruption to the halftime show, and he should be celebrated as a hero.”
