The Indian management made a bold decision of axing Ravi Bishnoi for Ashwin who hasn’t played a single game in the tournament. Bishnoi bowled an amazing spell against Pakistan in the last game. He had figures of 1-26 in his 4 overs when experienced bowlers like Pandya, Bhuvi, and Chahal went for over 40 runs. The 22-year-old bowled a pressure over and almost won the game for India but Arshdeep dropped a sitter and gave a lifeline to Asif Ali.
Why Ravi Bishnoi didn’t play against Sri Lanka? Here is why
During the toss captain, Rohit Sharma was asked about the changes in the team and he mentioned that Bishnoi makes way for Ashwin. The reason Rohit stated was that keeping in mind the left-handers in the Sri Lankan batting order they have made this change. Ashwin went for 32 runs and picked a single wicket in his spell
Indian team backed the experience of Ravi Ashwin ahead of Ravi Bishnoi. Though Ashwin was able to pick a wicket of Gunatilaka who is a left-hander but overall he wasn’t that impressive. The pitch of Dubai was favoring the spinner and Ashwin should have used the pitch better. On the same wicket where Chahal picked 3 wickets, Ashwin only managed to pick 1. Except for Chahal, every other Indian bowler lacked the wicket-taking intent including Ashwin.
