Richarlison, who came to Tottenham for £60 million last summer, has been playing well in recent weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for most of the season. Richarlison never got the chance to show what he could against the side sitting bottom of the Premier League as a muscle injury forced him off after just four minutes.
The 25-year-old pulled up in pain during the warm-up for the match but started nonetheless but issue reappeared immediately after kick off.
While the severity has yet to be revealed, Richarlison has pulled out of the Brazil squad for their friendly with Morocco, confirming he won’t be fit within a week or so but an exact timeline is yet to be known.
Richarlison was upset as he went down the tunnel, and Dejan Kulusevski took his place. The 25-year-old hasn’t scored a Premier League goal for Tottenham yet, but he helped them win their last game against Nottingham Forest by setting up a goal, winning a penalty, and having a goal taken away.

Richarlison’s injury could also keep him from playing in Brazil’s March 25 international friendly against Morocco. He was part of Ramon Menezes’ 23-person team and played often for his country at the 2022 World Cup. But he might not be on the team for the upcoming international break.
Tottenham’s injury worries got worse when Ben Davies also had to leave the game because of an injury. The Welsh defender needed to go to the hospital, so Ivan Perisic took his place.

Southampton suffers double injury blow but prevails over Tottenham
Armel Bella-Kotchap and Jan Bednarek of Southampton were both hurt during the game and had to leave because of it. The Saints brought on Mohammed Salisu and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as replacements.
It was hard for the game to get going because of all the injuries, but Southampton took the lead when James Ward-Prowse scored in the second half. Tottenham tried to make a comeback, but they couldn’t find an equaliser, so they lost the game by a score of 1-0.
The loss and injury of Richarlison puts Tottenham in sixth place in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed West Ham United, who have played one more game. With only nine games left in the season, Tottenham’s chances of making the top four and getting into the Champions League next year have taken a big hit.
