The first event of the season will kick off this weekend from 17-19 March, in Palaio Faliro, Greece.
Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup season 2023 preview and stars to watch
2022 world all-around champion Sofia Raffaeli will make a return to the world stage in this year’s season. Sofia claimed the top all-around spot in three of the five World Cup events last year. She also went on to take four of the five world titles.
Besides, Sofia, some other gymnasts to watch out include Bulgaria’s Boryana Kaleyn, who is a 2022 Pesaro winner, and Stiliana Nikolova, who won three silvers and a bronze medal at the 2022 Worlds. Another promising gymnast is Israel’s Daria Atamanov, the 2022 European champion.
Apart from the individual competitions, the competition will also feature group events where Italy and Bulgaria are the top contenders.
Last year, at the World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, three individual gymnasts and three groups earned a berth each to the upcoming Paris 2024 Games. The August Worlds in Valencia, Spain, will also play a key role alongside the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in determining the balance of the qualifiers.
