Rapper Mystikal Accused Of Rape After Drenching A Woman In Alcohol To Drive Out Evil Spirits
What does the arrest warrant say?
According to an arrest warrant, the rapper, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, is accused of assaulting a woman in a wild and violent encounter on Saturday night in Prairieville, Louisiana, during which he allegedly took her car keys, held her against her will, and at one point prayed with her to drive away her “bad spirits.”
Sheriff’s deputies reported that Tyler, 51, of Prairieville, was arrested in Ascension on Sunday afternoon on charges of first-degree rape, straightforward robbery, felony domestic violence battery by strangulation, and two other counts.
Following a search of his residence, deputies later added five additional drug charges.
Maughan also cited a sheriff’s detective’s admission in testimony on Tuesday that Tyler’s accuser had been in a committed relationship with him for at least a decade and that he had never before been charged with assaulting her.
Mystikal repeatedly assaulted the woman
In response to questions from the prosecutor Kenneth Dupaty, Keith stated that the woman had visited Tyler’s house on Saturday night around 8 o’clock to discuss his previous financial obligations to her and that everything seemed to be going well until he went to the bathroom and his demeanour abruptly changed.
Keith claimed that Tyler repeatedly beat, choked, and ripped out the woman’s hair while accusing her of stealing money. Tyler later apologised for his behaviour. Before raping her, he prayed with her and doused her in rubbing alcohol to drive away any “evil spirits.”
Keith claimed that authorities eventually discovered the woman’s hair braids, an earring, and a broken nail at Tyler’s house. The woman also had numerous cuts and bruises.
During the detective’s cross-examination, Maughan attempted to depict Tyler’s apologies and prayer session, which took place on his bed with the woman knelt down, as proof that the argument had subsided and that the woman was no longer afraid of his client prior to the alleged rape.
However, Keith later testified to the prosecution that the woman was merely praying for her protection” and had not heard what Tyler had been asking for.
