The Portuguese forward has signed a new contract that would keep him at San Siro through 2028. The talented 23-year-old’s current deal ends in the summer of 2024, making clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, and Real Madrid keen to sign him. Chelsea is said to have previously made two unsuccessful bids. Leao will enter the final year of his deal with the Italian club without a new contract, forcing them to either let him go for a low price or on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

As a result, AC Milan needed to do more to resolve the contract issue. Club directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara reportedly put a lot of work into the deal, and both parties have now come to an agreement, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Salary details
Rafael will now receive a massive salary of โฌ5 million plus bonus every season as well as a โฌ2 million signing bonus under this new contract till June 2028. Milan has increased the release clause in the new deal from โฌ150 million to โฌ175 million, which is more than the release clause in the previous contract. Its applicability is expected to be restricted to the brief summer season (usually from July 1 to 15), similar to the existing provision.
Leรฃo will not be leaving the San Siro. Fabrizio Romano reports Milan and the 23-year-old Portugal forward are closing in on a contract extension that would take Leรฃo through the 2028 season. A native of Almada, Leรฃo joined the Rossoneri in 2019 in a โฌ35 million movie from Lille.

His performances were key to Milanโs Scudetto success in the 2021-2022 season. ย Leao is performing exceptionally well this season as well, with 13 goals and an equal number of assists in 44 games across all competitions. In 16 years, he has guided Milan to their first UEFA Champions League semifinal.
Unfortunately, Rafael Leao was absent from Milanโs semi-final first leg against arch-rivals Inter Milan due to an injured muscle, and his side suffered a 0-2 loss on home ground. The 23-year-old attacker will most likely be available for the second leg, though. For the first time since 2007, AC Milan needs his assistance to recover from the brink and compete in the UCL final.
