Throughout the series, fans speculated whether the ending would be happy or sad. Towards the end, this K-drama almost tricked fans when Eun-sang (Park Sung-hoon) shot Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun). However, neither Hyun-woo nor Hae-in died.
As per the ending, the couple led a fulfilling life, raising a child and aging together. However, the final episode eventually revealed that Hae-in passed away before her husband. In the final scene, an elderly Hyun-woo was shown placing a bouquet of flowers on Hae-in’s grave, which bore her dates of birth and death. Moreover, Hae-in kept her promise of being the beautiful angel who would reunite with Hyun-woo after his passing.
Eun-Seong died after fatally wounding Hyun-Woo, giving viewers both a happy and a bittersweet ending.
Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won directed Queen of Tears, starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, with supporting roles played by Park Sung-hoon, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Lee Joo-bin. The K-drama narrates the complex love story and marriage of Hong Hae-in, a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo, the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri. It aired on tvN from March 9 to April 28, 2024, and can be streamed on TVING and Netflix.
Following the finale, viewers can anticipate a two-part special epilogue. These episodes will be broadcast after the season’s conclusion on April 28. In early April, tvN announced that the main cast would return for these special episodes. Fans are encouraged to submit questions they want the cast to address. The two additional “Ask Anything” episodes are set to air on May 4 and May 5.
