Thanks to MVP worthy performance from Erin Varghese, Kochi Blue Spikers bagged the first victory of their 2023 Prime Volleyball League campaign that saw them defeat Calicut Heroes by score of 15-13, 14-15, 12-15, 15-7, 15-11 in front of their home crowd.

At the Regional Sports Complex in Kochi on Saturday, Kochi Blue Spikers stunned derby rivals Calicut Heroes to earn their first victory in the 2023 RuPay Premier Volleyball League. Although Kochi started the match on high-note after winning the first 15-13 but, Calicut Heroes overturned the deficit to lead 2-1 after winning the third-set by score of 15-12. However, Kochi were buoyed by the home-crowd to win consecutive sets that allowed them to clinch their maiden victory of the season.
On Sunday, Kochi audience will get to enjoy two decisive matches including Kochi Blue Spikers vs Ahmedabad Defenders at 7:00 PM IST before Hyderabad Blackhawks face-off against Mumbai Meteors in the final game of the day at 9:30 PM IST. In the first game, leaders Ahmedabad Defenders will hope to continue their winning run, while Kochi Blue Spikers will attempt to finish the season on a high-note.
