Fans can expect a thrilling contest on Tuesday, when the Kochi Blue Spikers face-off against Chennai Blitz to begin their respective campaign for the 2023 RuPay Prime Volleyball League. Both teams had a difficult competition the previous year, with Kochi finishing in the bottom place and Chennai finishing at the second-to-last position.

Ahmedabad Defenders, the runner-up team from the previous season, started off strong on Monday by winning the first set 15-13 in Bengaluru’s Koramangala Indoor Stadium. However, the Hyderabad Blackhawks kept their calm to win the second set, bringing the match to 1-1. In the third-set, Ahmedabad took an early lead and threatened to secure the set but, Hyderabad’s strong offense managed to overturn the tables and win it 15-14.
After falling behind by score of 1-2, Ahmedabad team panicked to make some errors that allowed Hyderabad to capture the fourth-set 15-11 and clinch the win. In the final set, Ahmedabad managed a consolation prize by winning it 15-10 to lose the match 2-3 and sit in the seventh position of the standings. Owing to his massive contribution towards the win of Hyderabad Blackhawks, captain SV Guru Prasanth bagged the Man of the Match award.
