The 2023 NFL season might still be a long way off, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start making predictions
The draft is now complete, and we’re slowly starting to see team rosters take shape as the offseason progresses. 2022 was perhaps one of the most exciting NFL seasons in recent memory, and fans have a lot to look forward to when the first game gets underway on September 8.
Before the season starts, you can check out the NFL betting odds, with futures for the Super Bowl champion already available to bet on. In this article, we’ll be making some predictions on what we think will happen over the course of the season.
2024 Super Bowl Champions Prediction
The Super Bowl is the biggest prize in football and one of the biggest and most watched sporting events in the world. Last season saw the Kansas City Chiefs come back from being ten points behind in the first half to win the game 38-35 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Most expect these two teams to be in the playoffs once more, with the Chiefs the current favorites to retain their title.
While it’s rare for teams to win back-to-back Super Bowls, the Chiefs have done it before, winning in 2020 and 2021. They’re currently +600 favorites to win, but the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles are also in close contention, according to the sportsbooks.
We’re making an early prediction that the 49ers will be the team to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy in February 2024. They have an extremely strong roster and excellent coaching staff, and while they were badly beaten by the Eagles in the NFC Championship game last season, they were unlucky with injuries. Having a fully fit roster will be a boost to their chances, and they had a decent draft to add some extra depth.
NFL 2023 Season MVP Prediction
Last season, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes picked up the NFL MVP award, with his performances being a key reason for his team’s success. The Chiefs had the best offense in the league despite losing one of the NFL’s top receivers during the offseason. Interestingly, it was the first time the season MVP also won a Super Bowl in more than two decades.
This season, there are a lot of frontrunners for the season MVP award, including Joe Burrow for the Bengals and Jalen Hurts for the Eagles. Mahomes is also a favorite, and Justin Herbert of the Chargers shouldn’t be counted out. Generally, it’s always going to go to a quarterback who’s on a team that makes it far in the playoffs, although there are some exceptions.
Our prediction is for Jalen Hurts to win this season’s MVP award. The 25 year old had an incredible season in 2022 and was the favorite to win the award at several points. He surpassed a lot of expectations and just signed a huge new deal, and we expect him to improve again and lead the Eagles to a deep playoff run.
Break Out Stars Prediction
One of the most exciting parts of any season is watching a rookie player or depth player suddenly exceed everyone’s expectations and go on to become one of the best in the league. This season, we’re predicting Justin Fields, quarterback for the Chicago Bears to show some improvements. He had something of a mini breakout last season, with excellent rushing capabilities, but now he has better support around him, he should be able to excel and show everyone just how good he can be.
