The new Scarlet and Violet video game will bring Gen 9 Pokemon to life on Nintendo Switch consoles later this year, know the starters
While there are still few specifics about the final gameplay, the second video released this week has revealed several juicy new elements.
Scarlet and Violet’s fans have discovered that they will be able to play alongside their friends in the game.
Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Gen-9 Starters
Coop play is coming to Pokemon in a big manner, but there’s one piece of information that’s still missing: what type of Pokémon will they be capturing together.
Trainers learned more about the Pokemon that will be accessible in Scarlet and Violet today. This features the most recent Gen 9 Pokemon designs, which will be shown for the first time in this game.

So far, the following Pokemon have been identified as becoming available for a catch later this year:
Starter Pokemon
- Sprigatito: Grass Type
- Fuecoco: Fire Type
- Quaxly: Water Type
A fresh trio of grass, fire, & water-type starters is on the way, as one might assume. The new grass-type starter will be Sprigatito, the water-type will be Quaxly, and the fire-type will be Fuecoco. With Overgrow, Blaze, & Torrent, they have the basic set of skills, though hidden abilities may likely emerge later to separate them from previous generations’ starters.
It is currently uncertain what they will become. To differentiate them from Incineroar, Golduck, and Krookodile, it’s probable that the Pokemon will be less anthropomorphized.
Common Wild Pokemon
- Pawmi: Electric Type
- Lechonk: Normal Type
- Smoliv: Grass/Normal Type
While not every new Pokemon can be a starter or a legendary. Smoliv, Pawmi, & Lechonk round-up Scarlet and Violet’s Pokemon lineup. The three will be the new frenemy Nemona’s signature Pokemon. Smoliv is a grass-type Pokemon that resembles an olive, Lechonk is a pure normal-type Pokemon based on the black Iberian pig, while Pawmi is an electric-type Pokemon.
These three, like the starters, are quite likely to evolve, and nothing has been revealed thus far.
Legendary Pokemon
- Koraidon
- Miraidon
Outside of the starters, the Pokemon on the covers are the ones most closely connected with a new generation of Pokemon. That honour has been reserved for legendaries for mainline games since Gold and Silver. Koraidon and Miraidon are the new legendaries of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Koraidon is a lizard with feathers, whereas Miraidon has rockets for legs.
