The Phoenix Suns received terrible news with the injury to Cam Johnson. With Jae Crowder’s continued absence from the squad, the 26-year-old forward’s outstanding shooting and defence will be even morerely missed.

Johnson has been sidelined for Phoenix’s last two games after tearing the meniscus in his right knee against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Phoenix now knows how long Johnson will be sidelined following surgery.

“Suns forward Cam Johnson had surgery today that removed part of his meniscus, a procedure that should allow him to return in 1-2 months, sources told ESPN,” stated Windhorst.

Paul’s availability will also need to be watched by the Suns, after he departed Phoenix’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers at halftime due to right heel soreness. Phoenix is already being put to the test even though the season has just begun. In order to locate a player who can contribute on the floor after losing Johnson, the Suns may be forced to trade for Crowder more quickly.

With a knee injury, Suns forward Cameron Johnson is reportedly out for one to two months. Prior to the injury, Johnson was averaging career highs in a number of stat categories, in eight games he provided points (13.0), three-pointers made (2.8), assists (1.8) and steals (1.1). As the Suns’ starting power forward, Johnson was also averaging 3.4 rebounds, shooting a career-best 43.1 percent from beyond the arc and 44.6 percent from the floor.

The 26-year-old was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 11 choice overall in the 2019 NBA Draft out of North Carolina, but on draught night he was traded to Phoenix. Johnson has always been a danger to make three-pointers, and in each of his first four NBA seasons, his role has grown. Prior to taking up a starting position this season in the absence of veteran Jae Crowder, the 6’8″ forward spent his first three seasons mostly on the bench.

The Phoenix Suns’ starting lineup will still be comprised of Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, and Mikal Bridges. Torrey Craig, whose skill set is most comparable to that of Johnson’s among the bench players, is expected to experience the highest increase in minutes.
