Recap of Phantom of the Idol Episode 1
The first episode of Phantom of the Idol begins with our Japanese Pop duet, Zings, on stage, ready to perform. However, Kazuki Yoshino is just concerned with keeping the people entertained with their performance, whereas our main character of the programme, Youya Niyodo, the other member of the duo band Zings, has such a grim expression while playing that even fans are afraid of him.
Later in the dressing room, Zings’ boss scolds Niyodo and threatens to terminate him if he does not make himself active on stage. As Niyodo is, he says Yoshino good luck being solo and begins looking for work.
Yoshino asks him to practise keeping a smile on his face. While alone, we notice that Niyodo has become an idol solely for financial gain. Niyodo is a well-looking person who believes that his excellent looks would be enough to bring him money. He does not want to train harder and wants to stop. Then there’s Asahi Mogami, a formal 17-year-old idol who was killed in a traffic accident last year. She is astonished to see that Niyodo can see her spirit or a ghost of Asahi Mogami who wishes to perform.
She nags about how, even though Niyodo is alive, he doesn’t care about becoming an Idol and wishes he could swap places with her. Mogami then takes over Niyodo’s body by mistake. However, this is simply a temporary situation. Niyodo strikes a deal with her in which she agrees to perform on stage in exchange for easy money. The pair then performs, and Niyodo’s charisma astounds the audience, increasing his reputation even further. How long will their agreement last?
What Can We Expect in Episode 2 of Phantom of the Idol?
According to the promo for Phantom of the Idol Episode 2, Asahi will have Niyodo strive harder to become an idol. We may anticipate Niyodo to despise and weep over performance training in Phantom of the Idol Episode 2. We also witnessed Niyodo performing on stage as himself, rather than Asahi.
Asahi responded by saying that he was himself while performing. Asahi claims that he will be alright without her. Is Asahi’s spirit or ghost already on his way out? Of course not, the anime is only getting started, and we’ll see more of her.
