Having recovered from COVID-19, Oscar De La Hoya has gone onto offer Floyd Mayweather a staggering $100 million for a fight this year

Out of action since his 2008 defeat to Manny Pacquiao, Oscar de la Hoya was all set to return to the ring this month. He had a fight scheduled with Vitor Belfort, one which was set to see him make a foray into the world of boxing after a hiatus of 13 years.

However, destiny had other plans for him with Oscar coming down with a bout of COVID-19. It lead to him withdrawing from the fight, scuppering his grand plans of a return.

Oscar de la Hoya Challenges Floyd Mayweather To 2021 Fight

Having now recovered from the disease, Oscar de la Hoya is keen of rekindling his plans of once again fighting. Stepping out of Rossoblu in Los Angeles with girlfriend Holly Sounders, the 48 year old went onto talk about what it was like testing positive for COVID.

“5 days of hell,” Oscar said as he talked about the time he had spent in the hospital. However, he refused to dwell upon his illness for too long with him quick to send out a challenge to Mayweather.

“I’ll offer Floyd Mayweather $100 million,” he said as he talked about his desire to take on Mayweather later this year.

44 year old Mayweather had last taken on Conor McGregor in a professional fight in 2017 before squaring off against Logan Paul in an exhibition fight in June of this year. Both he and Oscar were involved in a hotly contested and feisty rivalry back in 2007 with Mayweather winning the scuffle via split decision.
