During the Orleans Masters Super 300 competition on Saturday, former Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin defeated Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt to qualify for her first final of the 2023 BWF World Tour. At this women’s singles semi-final tie, top-seed Marin needed just 41 minutes of effort to defeat the Danish shuttler with scores of 21-11, 21-13 thanks to her excellent performance.
Marin will undoubtedly compete on Sunday against American shuttler Beiwen Zhang for the championship as the overwhelming favorite. Each singles champion at the Orléans Masters will receive $18,000 from the $240,000 total prize fund as a BWF Super 300 tournament. Moreover, the singles runner-up will be awarded $9,120 as opposed to the semifinal losers, who would only receive $3,480. After losing to the tournament’s top-seed Carolina Marin in the semifinal stage, Dane shuttler Line Kjaersfeldt was eliminated from the running and received $3,480 in awards.
