The One Piece manga series took a month off, with the release date for Chapter 1054 now confirmed following the delay
The One Piece fandom has known for a while that the iconic manga series was approaching its final conclusive story arc, especially after the conclusion of Kaido vs. Luffy on the Onigashima rooftop last month. However, few fans expected the shocking announcement earlier this month that the manga’s final arc would arrive much sooner than expected.
In fact, Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece final arc is so close to completion that the mangaka has decided to take a one-month break to prepare – here’s everything you need to know about the manga chapter 1054 delay and release date.
One Piece Chapter 1054 Release Date Revealed As Manga Was Delayed Due To Hiatus
From Issue #30 of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2022 until Issue #34, the One Piece manga series will take a break. Unfortunately, this means that fans outside of Japan will not be able to read Chapter 1054 of the One Piece manga until Sunday, July 24th.
On June 7th, the official Twitter page shared a message from author Eiichiro Oda, in which the legendary manga creator confirmed that the upcoming hiatus is partly to prepare for the story’s final arc.
Oda reveals that his production team mentioned several months ago that this Summer will be extremely difficult for him. Not only is the manga series’ 25th anniversary approaching, but he also needs to travel to the South African set of Netflix’s live-action series for supervision, promote the One Piece: Red theatrical film, and…plan the manga series’ final arc.
According to the statement, Oda was initially surprised by the suggestion; however, after considering how hectic the iconic franchise’s Summer is set to be, Oda decided that a well-deserved break was indeed the best way forward. Oda also mentioned that his previous visit to the Netflix production set had been cancelled due to the pandemic, and that his attention must now shift to the upcoming Red theatrical film.
Video Of Behind The Scenes From The Netflix Set Released
The One Piece Netflix live-action series will undoubtedly benefit from having Eiichiro Oda on set during this one-month break; however, the set is something he won’t have to worry about. The upcoming One Piece adaptation revealed six new cast members and even a behind-the-scenes look at the sets being built in South Africa on Day One of Netflix’s recent Geeked Week event. Chiomo Umuela as Nojiko, Celeste Loots as Kaya, Alexander Maniatis as Klahadore, Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan, Craig Fairbress as Chef Zeff, and Steven Ward as Mihawk are the six new cast members.
The full list of announced actors is as follows:
