Alexandra Paul, a Canadian Olympic figure skater, was 31 when she was killed in a car accident. On Tuesday in Ontario, a truck struck several stationary vehicles, killing the woman, according to authorities.

Her infant, who was in the car with her, lived and received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Ms Paul was a “shining star on and off the ice” who left an “indelible mark” on the world of figure skating, Skate Canada stated, as per BBC.com. 

She represented Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. She won numerous international medals with Mitchell Islam, her skating partner and husband, before quitting the sport in 2016.

She married Mitchell Islam, her skating partner, in September of 2021. The two welcomed their son named Charles, their only kid.
