Tournament Format, Rules, and Prize Money Pool
From May 31 to June 10, 2022, the Norway Chess Championship will be contested. A single round-robin competition for ten players is held, with a 10-second increment after move 40 and a 120-minute time limit. The scoring system is three points instead of one point for a win. If the game is tied, the players play an Armageddon game, in which the winner gets 1.5 points and the loser gets one.
As a reward for the players, a mouthwatering amount of 2.5 million Norwegian kroner will be distributed based on final positions. The tournament’s complete schedule, pairings, standings, and results is available here.

Today in round seven, World Champion Magnus Carlsen suffered in yet another Armageddon match on Tuesday, losing his fourth of the type. With GM Viswanathan Anand winning his armageddon game and GMs Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov defeating their opponents in their classical games, it is evident that one of these four players will win the event.
In Round 7 of Norway Chess, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov both received full 3 points for classical victories, while Aryan Tari, Vishy Anand, and Wang Hao received 1.5 points for Armageddon victories. Prize Money
The overall prize pool for the tournament is 2,500,000 NOK, with 750,000 NOK going to the winner and 400,000 NOK going to the runner-up. Participants with the same amount of points will share the monetary prizes equally. However, this does not apply to the first prize.
