In the marquee matchup of Round 1, Carlsen outplayed reigning world champion GM Ding Liren. Nakamura triumphed over GM Fabiano Caruana, while Praggnanandhaa narrowly edged out GM Alireza Firouzja with only one second left on his clock.

In the Women’s Norway Chess, all classical games ended in draws. GM Humpy Koneru narrowly escaped a lost position against GM Pia Cramling to secure an Armageddon victory. Additionally, Women’s World Champion Ju Wenjun defeated GM Vaishali Rameshbabu, and GM aLei Tingjie overcame GM Anna Muzychuk.
