And 11 years later, the Toronto native became a professional Formula One driver. It was the year 2019 when Latifi gave exceedingly impressive performances throughout the season till date in Formula Two, eventually bagging the second position in the championship.
But a year before that in, the Canadian driver was way behind as he had finished ninth in the series’ 2018 standings. So from ninth in 2018 to second in 2019 was a major leap in his career and that’s what drew people’s attention towards him. So it was this result, along with the Williams/Robert Kubica union failing to come together in 2019 that pushed Williams to take the decision to promote Latifi, who was a reserve driver at the time, to a full-time drive alongside George Russell in 2020.

Post Force India, he joined the Williams family in 2019.
