On ESPN and ESPN+, the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft will be broadcast. The NHL Network and ESPN+ will broadcast rounds two through seven the following day. The first round will take place at 7:00 PM on 7th July while second to seventh round will take place at 11:00 AM on 8th July.

2022 NHL Entry Draft Format and Rules
The NHL modified the weighting system that was employed in prior seasons starting with the 2014โ15 NHL season. The four clubs who finished last in the league under the new format had a lower chance of winning the draught lottery, while the other non-playoff teams had a higher chance. Two lotteries were held for this draught as a result of the league reducing the number of lottery drawings prior to the 2021โ22 season.
A team may only win the lottery twice in a five-year span, and starting with this lottery, the teams winning one of the two drawings are only permitted to move up the draught order by a maximum of 10 slots.
Only the eleven last-place clubs were so qualified to get the first overall pick. If they were seeded 1โ11, the winning team would go to the first selection; if they were seeded 12โ16, they would advance 10 spaces. The team placed first would secure the first overall pick if they won the first draw, while the club seeded 12 would secure the second overall pick. The fifteen remaining teams were re-seeded for the second draw, and the teams seeded 1 through 12 could advance up to the second overall choice if it was still available after the first draw, but the teams seeded 13 through 15 could only advance up a maximum of 10 slots.

The two draught lotteries that were held on May 10, 2022 were won by the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils, giving them the first and second overall picks. New Jersey rose three spots as Montreal kept the top pick. Philadelphia, Arizona, and Seattle all slipped one spot to take third, fourth, and fifth place overall, respectively.
The 60th NHL Entry Draft will take place in 2022 and the draught will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on July 7 and 8, 2022. Player Eligibility Criteria for 2022 NHL Entry Draft & Top Prospects
The 2022 NHL Entry Draft is open to ice hockey players born between January 1, 2002, and September 15, 2004. Players who were selected in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft but were not signed by an NHL team and who were born after June 30, 2002, are also eligible to reenter the draught. Undrafted, non-North American players born in 2001 are also eligible.
