Before the USATF Outdoor Championships, this weekend’s USATF NYC Grand Prix is the last significant domestic competition. With many of the events serving as dress rehearsals before the American track and field world descended on Eugene, the meet’s concentration on the track is on sprints and mid-distance events.

2023 WUSATF NYC Grand Prix schedule, date, venue, time, list of events, & key competitors
In the 200m, reigning world champion Noah Lyles will face 400m gold medalist Michael Norman, while in the women’s 400m flat, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Gabby Thomas will square off. Thomas, who finished third in the 200-meter race at Tokyo 2020, will also run in the 100-meter event. In the men’s 100-meter race, Lyles will compete against Kenny Bednarek, the Olympic and world silver medalist, as well as Christian Coleman, the 2019 world winner. Norman and Marvin Bracy-Williams, the 100-meter world silver medalist for 2022, will join that trio.
Williams, the only non-American to compete in the women’s 100-meter race, will have her hands full in the meantime. Olympic 200-meter bronze medalist Gabby Thomas, Aleia Hobbs, Melissa Jefferson, & Morolake Akinosun are some of her rivals. In the women’s 400-meter race, Ashley Williams, Junelle Bromfield, and Young will compete for Jamaica. Field competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 EDT, with the women’s 100-meter hurdles opening the track competition.
