During the Olympic qualification mark, in the world U-20 Championships, which was held in Poland, he threw at a record of 86.48m, but the results came two weeks after the deadline.

Reacting to the same, during an interview with the Times of India, he said, “If I had thrown the same distance that I have achieved in Poland, I would have won a Bronze medal in the Rio Olympics.”

Chopra belongs from Khandra village, which comes under Panipat district, Haryana. He did his schooling from DAV College, Chandigarh. He even donated Rs. 2 lakhs in the PM Cares fund for the COVID-19 pandemic on March 31, 2020.

During the 2016 South Asian Games, Chopra had won a gold medal for throwing at a distance of 82.23m and went on to level the Indian national record.

During the 2016 IAAF World U-20 championship, which was held in Bygodzcz, Poland, he had won a gold medal and he also went on to create junior world record.

Chopra again won a gold medal in the 2017 Asian athletic Championship at a distance of 85.23m

During the 2018 Commonwealth games, he created the season best record 86.47m in the men’s javelin throw.
