The following NBA All-Star game will take place on February 19, and Joe Mazzulla, the Boston Celtics’ interim head coach, will serve as a coach of the Eastern Conference team Giannis.

Denver’s Michael Malone is the front-runner to coach Team LeBron, the squad that will be captained by the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James.

LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will captain the West and the East, respectively, at the NBA ALL-STAR game.

After Ime Udoka was suspended for breaking Celtics organisation rules, Mazzulla became the new head coach. The Celtics had the best record in the NBA during Mazzulla’s time as head coach with a 36-15 record. In the past ten years, guard Mazzulla, who played for West Virginia from 2006 to 2011, has advanced up the coaching levels.

Along with Mazzulla, Jayson Tatum will also travel to Utah as a starter for the All-Star game whereas Jaylen Brown, a teammate of his, will almost probably be selected as an All-Star reserve. The decision on the All-Star squads won’t be made until the game day. The All-Star activities will run from February 17 through 19.

How come Mazzulla is the chosen one?

Mazzulla and his crew will direct Team Giannis in the competition because the Boston Celtics have secured the best record in the Eastern Conference through the first half of the season. Philadelphia 76ers, who are in second place, are 2.5 games behind the C’s and won’t be able to catch up by the deadline on February 5.

Meanwhile, team LeBron may choose Michael Malone of the Denver Nuggets or Taylor Jenkins of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Playing and managerial career

After graduating from West Virginia, Mazzulla made the decision to pursue a career in coaching. The former Mountaineer was employed by Boston’s G-League club, the Maine Red Claws, after serving as an assistant coach at Glenville State and Fairmont State. Mazzulla returned to Fairmont State in 2017 to serve as the Fighting Falcons’ head coach.

When the West Virginia Mountaineers defeated Kentucky in the 2010 Elite Eight, Mazzulla’s 17-point performance was one of his most memorable West Virginia Mountaineer performances. Because of Mazzulla’s services, the Mountaineers made it to the Final Four for the first time since 1959 when Truck Bryant was hurt. Mazzulla, a legend in West Virginia, played in 145 games throughout his collegiate career.
