How Different Is The Application From Its Rivals?

A transportation app called “Namma Yatri” developed by the Bengaluru Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU) has been hailed as a competitive alternative to Ola, Uber, and Rapido. This follows growing dissatisfaction with the exorbitant fares charged by cab aggregators.

Even before its formal launch on November 1st, the programme has already become a well-liked tool in the Karnataka capital, with more than 1000 downloads. The app was motivated by the popularity of the “Yatri” app in Kochi, Kerala, and it shares a user interface with its competitors. As there won’t be a commission paid to an aggregator, the app’s goal is to offer rides at “fair costs.”

How The Pricing Works Is As Follows:

  • Drivers in the area will provide you rates that fall within a certain range when you specify your pick-up and drop-off locations.
  • Typically, the initial price given by the government is supplemented by an additional $10 to $30 to account for travel time to your pick-up site.
  • You can confirm the ride by choosing the best deal from the available options.

The Beckn Foundation, supported by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, worked with developers to create the app. Future releases of other applications similar to “Rook” may be made to compete with Ola and Uber.

The app can be downloaded on the Play Store on Android while the APK file can be accessed from here.

The time has come for Ola, Uber and Rapido.

It follows Uber India’s announcement that it was considering restricting the availability of its auto services in specific areas of Bengaluru as a result of the Karnataka high court’s order to set a 10% commission cap. According to a source with knowledge of the development, the Namma Yatri app seeks to enter the market at reasonable prices for clients by cutting out the intermediaries.

Government officials are investigating cab aggregators Ola, Uber, and Rapido for charging more than 100 rupees for journeys that are less than two kilometres in length. The transport department had previously reprimanded the aggregators for providing auto rickshaw rides without a licence and had sent them a notice requiring autorickshaws to charge a minimum of 30 rupees for the first two kilometres and 15 rupees for each additional kilometre.
