The talented right-arm medium-pace bowler was born in Gopalganj Bihar. He spent his childhood in Gopalganj and played his first ever cricket tournament (Inter-district cricket) tournament there only. Mukesh’s father was a taxi driver and they were not financially strong. The latter used to go on a bicycle 20 km away from his town to play cricket. One day his former captain Amit Singh told him to take the bus instead he replied he does this to train his leg muscles for Indian Army physical tests.
In 2012 Mukesh moved to Kolkata to support his family financially. He later discovered the second league tournament where Mukesh used to get 400-500 INR per match.
Mukesh Kumar’s father (late Kashinath Singh) was against cricket as he wanted his son to be an Army Officer. He even gave 2 CRPF exams to fulfill his father’s dream.
In 2014 his life changed completely with the Cricket Association Bengal’s(CAB) program named ‘Vision 2020’. The program was launched to groom the budding talents of Bengal state under the guidance of Legendary bowlers Waqar Younis and Muralitharan.
Mukesh gave the trial and impressed everyone including his Bengal bowling coach Ranadep Bose with his accurate line and length. After a year he got a call-up from Bengal domestic team and played first-class cricket for them. His consistent performance earns him a call-up against New Zealand A team in 2022. He picked up 5 wicket haul in that game which helped him get his first-ever International call-up.
He is yet to be picked by an IPL team.
