When Manchester City acquired Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021, everything changed.

However, the Red Devils reacted and made another big purchase last summer, paying £82 million to get Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax.

After spending £89 million on the Shakhtar Donetsk forward, Chelsea has now made Mudryk the joint-third most expensive purchase in Premier League history.

However, Manchester City, who spent £100 million on Grealish and Aston Villa, currently hold the record. The midfielder has supplanted Pogba in the annals of soccer history and surpassed several other record-breaking transfers made by teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, all the records are broken now! Following a hectic day of negotiations with Benfica, Chelsea shattered the British transfer record to recruit Enzo Fernandez for €121 million (£106.8 million). This continued their astounding spending spree.

The agreement, which the London club announced early on Wednesday morning, brings Chelsea’s spending under the ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital to more than £500 million and is a further indication of their resolve to control the transfer market.

Graham Potter will be hoping Fernández makes his team stronger in central midfield. The negotiations were spearheaded by co-owner Behdad Eghbali, who was persistent throughout Tuesday’s conversations with Benfica.
