According to reports, Al-Ittihad is prepared to offer the Egyptian winger a contract that would exceed Ronaldo’s £173 million salary at Al-Nassr and pay Liverpool £86 million, a Saudi record, in exchange for his talents.
Ronaldo, a pioneer and the face of the Saudi league, is currently the highest-paid athlete in the world. The ex-Manchester United striker signed a contract worth an incredible £3.4 million per week that is valid until June 2025. Karim Benzema, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, makes an astounding £3.3 million every week. Neymar signed a contract with Al-Hilal, who initially spent £77.6 million to sign the playmaker from PSG, that will pay him £2.5 million each week. Salah, though, will make more money than any of the aforementioned players if he moves to the Gulf country.
The links are getting stronger and stronger
For the past few weeks, Salah, 31, has been mentioned in connection with a move to Saudi Arabia. And now, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Al-Ittihad has a real interest in luring him away from Liverpool.
Since the forward is still essential to Liverpool’s ambitions for the current campaign, the club has no intention of selling him, and his agent has stated that he is dedicated to Anfield. On Thursday morning, though, there were rumours that Salah might be on the verge of changing his mind.
The winger is reportedly taking the offer extremely seriously right now, according to the Saudi website Arriyadiyah. Alleged meetings between Al-Ittihad and Salah’s representatives to discuss the agreement have taken place. The Saudi club is therefore getting more and more confident that they will sign him before the summer transfer window closes on September 20.
The Premier League transfer window closes in a week
But with the Premier League transfer window set to close in less than a week, they are in a race against time. It will surpass the Saudi record and make the Egyptian the most expensive player in league history if Liverpool decides to accept it.
Al Ittihad won’t quit up on Salah, according to journalist Rudy Galetti and the club sent a huge offer to convince especially Klopp – who has so far rejected the idea of his farewell to let him go. Salah became Liverpool’s highest-paid player ever after signing a new three-year contract last summer, which paid him about £350,000 per week.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have already left the Reds for Saudi Arabia. Salah, however, would be the most significant victory of the three givens that the attacker is still at the height of his abilities. The clubs haven’t held any formal discussions, but the Saudi side is optimistic that he would be drawn in by the opportunity to play in a Muslim nation.
The gifted talisman has 187 goals to his name with the Reds, and he has also helped his team win the FA Community Shield, Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
