Royal Majesties, Ambassadors, businesspeople, cultural organisations, and artists from more than 90 countries came together at the Hotel Le Meridian in New Delhi to revive Modern Pythian Games in India, New Delhi
They came forward to form the International Pythian Council and join the revival of the Delphi idea of “Modern Pythian Games” in front of the world’s media. This was an important day for the Modern Pythian Games.
Modern Pythian Games to be revived in India in New Delhi as 90 countries join hands
Mr. Bijender Goel started the Delphic India trust and the International Pythian council, which owns the rights to the “Modern Pythian Games.” He came up with the idea of Pythian games and spoke at a press conference, telling people there about the idea behind these games.
“Since 582 B.C., it has been part of the Pan Hellenic Games, along with the Olympics. Since 394 A.D., all Pan-Hellenic games have been discontinued. The Olympics Games were reintroduced in 1894,” he said.

He said that the Pythian Games had been part of the Pan Hellenic Games in ancient Greece since 582 B.C. and that they were second only to the Olympics in importance before they were all stopped in 394 A.D.

The Sikh Games Federation of India becomes the first recognised organisation for modern Pythian games in India.

The Modern Pythian Games will happen every four years. Their multilevel design will give people new hope, help national economies, promote tourism, and give artists and other stakeholders jobs. These games will be a place where people from all over the world can come together and share their arts, culture, traditions, entertainment, games, e-sports, air sports, and martial arts.
“Through its multilevel structure, there are more opportunities for artisans to showcase their arts at an international level. There are opportunities for the artisans to represent their flag. It will help national economies by promoting tourism and generating employment for artisans and other stakeholders. A tool for uniting the nations through cultural diplomacy. An initiative to organise the creative industry, worth 800 billion euros, into an organised sector,” he said.
Countries across globe support the game
Through cultural diplomacy, these games will be a great way to bring people from different countries together. This will also be a big step toward making the 800 billion euro creative industry more organised.
Panos Kaltsis, former Mayor of Delphi has been nominated as the 1st President of the International Pythian Council and Bijender Goyal will manage the affairs as Secretary General.
What are the Pythian Games?
These Games were one of the 4 Panhellenic Games during the period of Ancient Greece. They were held every four years at Apollo’s temple at Delphi to honour him. There were horse and chariot races, as well as competitions in music, poetry, and athletics. Only the Olympic Games were thought to be more important than the Pythian Games.
