On September 25, 2022, Drexyll Tolstoy was reported stolen near West 106th Street and Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He had lived in the area for 10 years with his lover, Kristian Gonzalez. Gonzalez says that Tolstoy told her that the night he was last seen, he was going to watch the movie “Bullet Train.” But when the cops looked into it, they found that no movies were being shown at that time.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Drexyll Tolstoy’s mother, Kellie, said that her son was having trouble with his relationships and was depressed. He had also changed the medicine he took to help with his mood. During a phone call on September 25, Drexyll told her that he “couldn’t go back” to the Upper West Side flat he shared with Gonzalez.

“It shouldn’t take six months to find someone hundreds of feet away from where they disappeared,” Kellie wrote in an update on the family’s GoFundMe effort, which was started to look for the missing 27-year-old.
