Michigan Wolverines next head coach favourites

Ahead of the new season, the Wolverines need to find a new head coach to replace Howard. And on that list of possible candidates, Lamont Paris and John Beilein have emerged as the top favourites. However, Paris just signed a six-year extension with South Carolina earlier this week, having gone 37-28 during his two years with the Gamecocks.

Meanwhile, Beilein currently works as the senior player development advisor for the Detroit Pistons. He has been with the franchise ever since 2021. Beilein has a long history with Michigan, having previously spent 12 years as their head coach before leaving in 2019. He left the team to take over as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Aside from Paris and Beilei, eight other coaches have odds of 10-1 or shorter to replace Juwan Howard.  Meanwhile, a group of four other coaches, including Shaka Smart and Nate Oats, are listed at odds of 65-1.
