Miami Freedom Park construction underway
According to reports, the construction for the new Inter Miami stadium is set to finish by 2025. The new stadium will feature a capacity of 25,000 seats. With the new stadium, the club aims to attract more participation from the local community all year round. Aside from the stadium, the site will also feature the construction of new shops, restaurants and hotels. Fans can go to the Miami Freedom Park website and check out images of what the stadium will look like.
The $350 million stadium is part of the $1 billion Miami Freedom Park project, which includes more than one million square feet for commercial retail, entertainment venues, office space and three hotels.
The Miami Freedom Park project
Jorge Mas, who is the Managing Owner of the club shared on the club website:
With Inter Miami my family set out to build something truly transformational. In just four years we have changed the perception worldwide of American soccer. As we commence construction of Miami Freedom Park that same vision guides us.”
Mas further stated that the club are dedicated to creating a multi-faceted space, which will set the new standard for sport complexes. Moreover, they are also set on delivering a new food and entertainment destination where families can enjoy throughout the year.
He finished his statement with the following line:
I can’t wait to welcome our fans to our state-of-the-art stadium and hear the chants as Messi and your Inter Miami players take the pitch for the first time in 2025.”
Meanwhile, project lead Devon McCorkle, shared:
The level of attention and the influx of inquiries we are receiving have been incredible, a testament to the positive impact of Lionel Messi on Inter Miami CF and the City of Miami.”
McCorkle further shared that the team are currently in discussions with stadium sponsors, hotel brands, major attractions operators, restaurant groups, cultural institutions and many other potential partners for creating a new entertainment district.
Inter Miami player explains the need for a new stadium
Interestingly, earlier in the summer, Inter Miami goalkeeper, Nick Marsman one talked about the need for building a new stadium. He stated that the current stadium is a temporary one where people can just walk onto the pitch. He further added how the stadium has no fences or security while walking from the training ground to the stadium.
Lionel Messi future at Inter Miami
While Inter Miami are set for new changes with the new upcoming stadium, it remains to be seen if Messi will still be there to see it being finished. The 36-year-old is still in excellent form but he could remain at the club in a non-playing role. With Messi alongside Beckham at the helm, the two players could bring in tons of young talented prospects.
