Praggnanandhaa’s loss to Anish Giri in Round 2 was particularly upsetting because he had started the match with back-to-back victories before his opponent came back to win the tiebreaker. At only 17, Pragg is fast to bounce back, as evidenced by his decisive 3-0 victory over Le Quang Liem in the subsequent round. Thus, Magnus Carlsen and Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who each won their three matches without the need for a tiebreaker in any of them, are five points ahead of Pragg and Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who are currently tied for third position with Pragg on 4/9 match points.
