In 1983 he offered Mansour Ojjeh the chance to purchase 50% of the team with McLaren becoming a joint venture with Ojjeh’s TAG Group.

On January 2014, it was announced that Ron Dennis had returned to the role of Group CEO of McLaren, continuing his role as the Chairman of McLaren Group. In May 2018 it was announced that Canadian businessman Michael Latifi had purchased approximately 10% of the group with an investment of ยฃ200 million.
As of April 2021, the Bahrain Royal Familyโs Mumtalakat Investment Company still owns 56% of the McLaren Group, whereas TAG Group limitedย has14.32%, Michael Latifi has 10% and other minor shareholders owning the rest of the stakes.
