Matt was notably remembered as an offensive guard for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He also played college football for the Northwestern Wildcats during his time at Northwestern. Matt’s defining career moment came when he won Super Bowl XLI with the Colts during the 2006 season.

Matt Ulrich started out playing college football at Northwestern University, where he achieved a lot of success. During his time there, he was named Academic All-State in Illinois three times and also named as an Honorable Mention in the All-Big Ten back in 2004. Besides that, he also set many weight room records at Northwestern, including the squat (715), bench press (475), and incline press (425). Aside from that, he was also recognized as a 2004 National Strength and Conditioning All-American.
After graduating from college, Ulrich started out his NFL career, after The Colts selected him as their 175th overall choice during the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Matt made 13 appearances in the 2005 campaign, and even started two of those games. The following season in 2006, Ulrich started all 16 games, and played a key role in the Colts’ success back in Super Bowl XLI.
Throughout the next 2007 and 2008 seasons, Ulrich played an important role as one of the key offensive linesmen for the Colts, and started every game. However, all of this success came to a halt in 2009, Ulrich’s ruptured his triceps muscle during the preseason. As a result, he was placed on injured reserve and the Colts officially released him in 2010.
