Ravindra Mahajani, a renowned Marathi actor known for his outstanding roles in the films Mumbai cha Fauzdar, Zoonj, and Kalat Nakalat, unfortunately, passed away at the age of 77. The news emerged after his lifeless body was discovered in his residence in Talegaon, near Pune, three days after his demise.

According to the authorities, the actor’s remains will be given to his heartbroken family for funeral rites when the autopsy is finished. The tragic situation started when worried neighbors called the police about a smell coming from Mahajani’s closed apartment in Talegaon Dabhade’s Xrbia Housing Complex.

Previously, Gashmeer Mahajani, Ravindra Mahajani’s son, had made many attempts to get in touch with his father but had received no response. When his concerns grew, Gashmeer contacted a friend in Pune and asked them to travel to Talegaon Dabhade and check on his father.

However, before the concerned friend could reach the flat on Saturday, news of the actor’s demise had already surfaced. As a result of the neighbors’ constant complaints, the police were forced to break into the apartment, where they found Mahajani’s dead corpse.

His sudden and untimely demise has deeply saddened many, including prominent figures like Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Many people paid their final condolences to him and attempted to learn more about him. So, here’s what we know about him:

Who is Ravindra Mahajani?

Ravindra Mahajani was a renowned Marathi actor and director. He has been in the news because he passed away at the age of 77 under mysterious circumstances.

He was born in 1949 in Pune, Bombay State, India. He was married, and his wife’s name is Madhu Mahajani. They have two children. While not much is known about their daughter, their son, Gashmeer Mahajani, is a well-known actor.

He died on 11 July 2023 in Talegaon Dabhade, Pune, Maharashtra, India. At the time of his death, he was 74 years old.

His career

Ravindra Mahajani had a distinguished career that lasted from the late 1970s to the middle of the 1980s. He had humble beginnings before becoming well-known in the world of film, working as a taxi driver while still attending film auditions.

His dedication and passion for acting eventually led him to create a significant body of work in Marathi cinema until around 1987–1988. Due to his fascinating charisma and alluring appearance, Mahajani was sometimes referred to as “the Vinod Khanna of the Marathi film industry.”

Throughout his career, Ravindra Mahajani became a notable presence in romantic songs, leaving an indelible impact with melodies such as “Ha Sagar Kinara,” “Sumbaran Gao Deva,” and “Phite Andharache Jaale.”

His film “Devta” garnered immense popularity among rural audiences, while his roles in movies like “Duniya Kari Salam” (1979), “Mumbai cha Fauzdar” (1984), “Zoonj” (1989), “Kalat Nakalat” (1990), and “Aaram Haram Ahe” showcased his versatility as an actor.

Among them, “Aaram Haram Ahe” emerged as a major hit, while “Laxmi Chi Pavale” achieved blockbuster status. After a brief hiatus, Mahajani made a comeback with the 2015 film “Kay Rao Tumhi,” reaffirming his enduring passion for the craft.
