Chelsea, managed by Mauricio Pochettino, has suggested a swap deal with Sporting Lisbon in hopes of acquiring Manuel Ugarte.
The 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder is up for transfer, and Chelsea is willing to pay £62 million for him, plus an additional £4 million. He apparently prefers Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition to Manuel Ugarte, the team is also interested in four other midfield targets. According to reports, Chelsea has thought about loaning attacker David Datro Fofana, while Pochettino has named Alexis Mac Allister, Youssouf Fofana, Romeo Lavia, and Moises Caicedo as potential midfield additions for the upcoming campaign.

Manuel Ugarte began his career at the prestigious Fénix Youth Academy, where he developed his abilities and showed extraordinary talent. His outstanding development resulted in his promotion to the club’s first squad in 2016.
However, in December 2021, he began a new chapter in his professional life by joining the Famalicão of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Soon, Sporting CP, a prestigious Primeira Liga team, was impressed by his half-season performance and hired him. In his first season with Sporting CP, Ugarte was thrilled to win the coveted Taça da Liga.
With a promising career ahead, he has also represented Uruguay at various youth levels, including a notable third-place finish in the 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. Notably, he made his senior international debut in 2021.
