On Thursday, former world champion PV Sindhu advanced to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Masters 2024 women’s singles event with her win over Sim Yu Jin by the score of 21-13, 12-21, 21-14. As per the draw, Sindhu will now face top seed and world No. 6 Han Yue from China with a spot in the semi-finals of this BWF Super 500 tournament at stake.
Joining Sindhu in the quarter-finals is Ashmita Chaliha, who delivered a stunning performance to defeat world No. 10 Beiwen Zhang of the USA. Chaliha, ranked 53rd globally, secured a 21-19, 16-21, 21-12 victory in 43 minutes. She will now compete against China’s sixth seed Zhang Yi Man in the next round.
In the men’s doubles, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Sai Pratheek K lost their second-round match to China’s world No. 11 pair, He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu, with a score of 21-11, 21-9 in 31 minutes. Meanwhile, India’s B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy lost against Malaysian duo Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei by score of 9-21, 15-21 to exit the tournament,
