2023 Malaysia Masters singles schedule, date, venue, fixtures, & first-round draw
In the opening round of the 2023 Malaysia Masters men’s singles event, Kidambi Srikanth will compete against Toma Junior Popov. If he defeats the Frenchman in the first-round, he would probably face eighth-seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn in his second-round tie. Meanwhile, HS Prannoy will have a difficult opponent during his first-round clash in the form of sixth-seed Chou Tien Chen. Recently, Prannoy competed against the Taiwanese in the Sudirman Cup and lost the match. Prannoy would go up against either China’s Li Shi Feng or Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu in the second-round if he were to defeat Chou Tien Chen.
In the women’s singles opening round, Saina Nehwal will play the reigning world champion Akane Yamaguchi, who has won eleven of her last thirteen matches against Saina. Elsewhere, Indian ace PV Sindhu will begin her campaign with her tie against Dane shuttler Line Christophersen. Although Indian shuttlers have drawn difficult opponents at the 2023 Malaysia Masters, fans are optimistic about Indian medal prospects.

Because the Malaysia Masters is a BWF Super 500 event, each singles category winner will get $31,500 from the $420,000 total prize fund. While the losers in the semifinals will only receive $6,090, the singles runner-up will receive $15,960. The first-round losers of this competition are expected to go home empty-handed.
