Born in Meaux city of Ile-de-France region, Lucas Digne is a French football player who plays at full left-back position. His swift body feints and honed passing abilities are what secured him a spot in the French national team at different points of his career. Digne eventually ended up making it to France’s core national squad, in addition to his spell at some famous clubs across Europe like PSG, Lille, Roma and Barcelona.
Early Career Days
He kicked off his youth career in the year 1999 with a local club called Mareuil-sur-Ourcq where he spent 3 years. After that, Digne moved to Crepy-en-Valois for what was a 3-year youth setup. Post that, he shifted to a club that are currently the Ligue 1 defending champions, Lille OSC, in the French association football.

It was after Digne played in Lille’s youth academy for 6 years that the club signed a professional contract of 3 years with him on 27th July, 2010. His debut came against Sedan in the Coupe de la Ligue on 26th October, 2011, which resulted in a 6-1 victory for Lille. Digne’s time at Lille saw him make 49 appearances for the club, having proved his worth as a great defender.
17th July, 2013 is the date when PSG brought Digne to their side for a handsome 15 million Euros. He made 29 appearances for the French giants and was also a member of PSG’s squad for the Coupe de la Ligue and of Trophee des Champions, for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
Italian football club A.S. Roma roped in Digne on loan from PSG for 2.5 million Euros. He participated in 33 games for Roma and also scored on two occasions. His achievements earned him a spot in Barcelona, with the Catalan giants signing Digne for 16.5 million pounds. The left-back appeared in 27 games for Barca where he displayed his aerial skills to the maximum.
Lucas Digne was a part of the French squad that clinched the U20 World Cup in 2013. He then participated in the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Euro Cup, in which France lost to Portugal in the final.
