More About Lawsuit
Three football players from San Diego State University, both present and past, have been named in a lawsuit. Three individuals have been identified as defendants in the lawsuit: Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko, a former player at San Diego State; former Aztec punter Matt Araiza, who was selected by the Buffalo Bills; and Zavier Leonard, who is no longer on the team.
The owner of the home where the claimed rape occurred and landlord, SLJ, LLC, is also included as a defendant.
On behalf of the now 18-year-old alleged victim, attorney Dan Gilleon claimed he submitted the lawsuit. Rape, gender assault, false imprisonment, and property responsibility are all claimed in the case as causes of action.
Following a nine-month San Diego police investigation, the matter is presently being reviewed by the county district attorney for potential criminal charges.
