Why Is Justice For Ankita Trending?
Ankita Kumari was just a 19-year-old student of class 12th from the Dumka district of Jharkhand. She was brutally murdered last Sunday and her only mistake was that she refused her stalker’s advances.
On Tuesday, August 23, early in the morning in Dumka, Jharkhand, his stalker, Shahrukh, savagely attacked her.
Ankita had reported to police that Shahrukh, her next-door neighbor, tormented her every day while she was in a severe state. He would come up to her and beg for her “friendship.” He used to call her frequently in an attempt to build a relationship. When Ankita reprimanded him for continuing, he made a death threat.
In severe condition with 90% burns, she had been initially brought to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka. The police said that later on, she was directed to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for better care. However, she succumbed to her injuries.
The Dumka district was in an uproar following the event. Hindu organizations have organized protest rallies and bandhs, with many calling for Shahrukh to be executed following a quick court case.
The Dumka police also infuriated the mob. At the protest at Dudhani Tower Chowk, protesters hurled abuse at Dumka SDPO Noor Mustafa Ansari, accusing him of carelessness.
Residents claim that even though Ankita was a minor when the matter was reported, the SDPO categorized her as an adult. Lots of people are calling for the execution of Shahrukh and the suspension of SDPO Noor Mustafa Ansari.
