During the conference, Klopp gave a fitness update on Andy Robertson, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Arthur Melo ahead of this weekend’s trip to Arsenal.
Liverpool Set To Face In-Form Arsenal
The Reds are set to face an in-form Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this weekend. Arsenal are currently sitting on top of the Premier League table after eight games this season.
Liverpool on the other hand had an agonising draw against Brighton at Anfield last weekend. However, Klopp’s men will be rejuvenated ahead of their trip to North London.
Liverpool recently showcased an impressive display against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday with a 2-0 win.
However, it’ll take much more than that to go up against Arsenal. Especially since Klopp will feature a team without a number of key players.
Liverpool Full Injury List And Expected Return Dates:
Given below is Liverpool’s full injured player’s list and expected return dates:
Arthur Melo
Klopp recently omitted Arthur Melo from the Liverpool squad during Tuesday’s win at Anfield, after confirming that he suffered a muscle injury.
The Reds boss further revealed about the on-loan Juventus midfielder’s injury during a press conference. Klopp however, refused to put a time-frame on his recovery until the club has received a full assessment of the problem.
Klopp stated in the conference:
“There’s one new injury, Arthur Melo in the last session before the Rangers game. He just injured a muscle. We have to wait for further assessment to know exactly how long it will be.”
Andy Robertson
Andy Robertson has not featured since last month’s thrashing away at Napoli. The Liverpool defender picked up a knee injury before Ajax’s visit to Anfield.
After having a full international break to recover, Klopp confirmed that Robertson is back running outside. However, Robertson will not be involved on Sunday afternoon against the Emirates.
According to Klop, he “looks close” so he could be part of the squad that travels to Ibrox to face Rangers on Wednesday.
Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has had a difficult season so far having not featured in any game so far. He is suffering from a “stress fracture” in his tibia.
Jones is now advancing with his recovery and featured a return to team training on Thursday. Although Klopp quickly pointed out it that it was only his first session back with the ground, he admitted that the 21-year-old is the “closest” out of the Reds’ five-man injury list in making a return to action.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Klopp left out both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the Champions League group stages last month.
Klopp confirmed on Friday afternoon, that the duo were “still a bit away” from making a return to training.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently healing from a hamstring injury he suffered during the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East. Keita on the other hand is treating a muscle issue of his own.
