According to Marca, Barcelona defender Pique and Rubiales were asking for help to get Aganzo out of his job. Pique appears to have sought the advice of Ramos, who is currently at PSG and disclosed information of the power struggles between Rubiales and Aganzo. Pique then emailed Rubiales a tape of the discussion, which has since been widely circulated in Spanish media.
It’s one of several communications and discussions between Pique and Rubiales that have been exposed, causing a media frenzy in Spain.
El Confidential claimed last week that it had found more contacts between Pique and Rubiales. Later on, it revealed that Pique’s firm collected £20 million for assisting in the transfer of the Spanish Super copa to Saudi Arabia.
Pique Denied Any Wrong Doing
Pique, 35, denied any wrongdoing, denying charges of a ‘conflict of interest’ as a result of his work at Barcelona and claiming that he has ‘nothing to hide.’ He is also sure that the competition was hosted in a ‘legitimate’ manner.
