Boycott Malabar Gold Trends On Twitter After Kareena Kapoor Khan Ad With No Bindi

Boycott Malabar trended on social media as actress Kareena Kapoor Khan featured in the Malabar Gold commercial without wearing a bindi.

When Akshay Kumar issued a public apology after Twitterati attacked him for being linked with a pan masala company, we all saw the power of social media in action.

Another incidence occurred on Friday when actress Kareena Kapoor Khan was the target of mocking when Malabar Gold aired a special ad featuring Akshay Tritya. Kareena received controversy for not wearing a Bindi on her forehead as she joined the jewellery brand for their holiday special collection.

What Is The Boycott Malabar Gold Trend On Twitter

It wasn’t for her fashionable public appearances with her family or friends or her future films that actress Kareena Kapoor Khan was trending on social media on Friday (April 22).

On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the actress appeared in a commercial for Malabar Gold and Diamonds. This sparked outrage among some social media users, who claimed that Kareena had married a Muslim and yet was featured in a commercial for a Hindu festival despite this.

Users also called the commercial an ‘insult to Hinduism,’ because Kareena doesn’t wear a bindi. On Twitter, the hashtags #No Bindi No Business and #Boycott MalabarGold are trending.

Netizens chastised the company for marketing a Hindu celebration without depicting Hindu married ladies properly. They argued that the Hindu festival commercial should not have a “Muslim married woman.”
