Women’s Hockey World Cup
The Women’s Hockey World Cup saw its inaugural season in 1974 and follows the same qualifications as of Men’s World Cup. The tournament is governed by the International Hockey Federation and has seen the competition organized having change it’s number of teams and on the year held at regular intervals. The tournament was first held after a two year gap , then three and then finally four which is similar to Men’s World cup.
Netherland as no doubt dominated at this major tournament with having won 8 out of the 14 times the tournament has happened and also are the defending champions.
Women’s Hockey At The Olympics
The Women’s Hockey made it’s debut at the Olympics in the 1980 Olympics held in Moscow and has been a regular part of it since then. At the 1980, Olympics the World was surprised by the Zimbabwe Women’s team coming out to win the Gold after defeating Czechoslovakia in the finals. At the next Olympics six nations made their way into the Women’s Hockey that is in 1984.
Since then just like the Women’s World Cup Netherland has covered a grip over the Olympics with winning gold four time one more than the second most successful nation Australia. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics it was the Netherland side that made it at the top of the Podium and continuing their medal winning streak at each Olympics.
