Back in the Imperial era England and South Africa played a Test Series in South Africa. In the 2nd Test of the series at Newlands English team batted first and posted a total of 292 runs in 123.1 overs.
The host never looked comfortable with the bat as they were all out on 47 in the first innings. England gave a follow-on and things got even worse for the Proteas as this time they were all out on 43.
4. Australia vs England 1888 (792 balls) Lords
The Lord’s green top was a nightmare for the batters in the late 80s. Australia and England squared off for a Test Match at the Lords back in 1888. Australia was asked to bat in the first innings and they posted 116 runs on the board. England in reply was bowled out on just 53 runs after playing 50 overs.

Windies in the second innings also declared the innings on just 51 runs and posted a total of 73 runs to win in front of England. The visitors chased down the total comfortably inside 17 overs.

The shortest-ever test match was played in MCG between Australia and South Africa. The visitors were bowled out on 32 in the first innings courtesy of Bert Ironmonger’s fifer. Australia in reply scored 153 runs in 54 overs which took the game far away from the Proteas.
South Africa was all out on 45 runs in the second innings which resulted in an innings and 72 runs defeat.
